People Food

No, No, No!  She's growing up too fast!!!
At Isla's 2 month checkup our doctor told us we should wait to feed her solids until she was 6 months old.  No biggy.  Nursing and bottles are much easier anyways.  But then soon after that she started refusing to take a bottle.  No tantrums, no crying because of course she's my happy, easy-going baby.  She'll let you put the bottle in her mouth, even let the milk dribble into her mouth... and then she turns her head to the side and just lets the milk roll out.  Such a stinker!  Seriously what can you do with that? It's not like she even puts up a fight.  She has the milk in her mouth for goodness sake, she just refuses to swallow it- politely letting it drool out the side of her mouth.
So we've moved on and she's just a really good nurser.  But then at her 4 month checkup she'd dropped from the 46th percentile in weight to the 12th so the doctor said "um maybe you'd like to start her on solids now :)".  Apparently I produce skim milk and although she's eating enough, it's not fattening her up enough.  Taylor keeps laughing because people always comment on how smiley and petite she is.  I keep telling him that's the polite way of calling a girl skinny.
So bring on the solid foods.
Isla is no dummy.  She LOVES them!  Baby Mum-mums any day!
And rice cereal is a hit too.  She's my worst bottle drinker but my best food eater.  Seriously Ethan was so hard to feed.  It would take almost a half hour to coax him into eating a tablespoon or two and required lots of airplane noises and funny faces.  Isla eats a bite and then immediately opens her mouth waiting for you to fill it.  She even does a little grunt to let you know she's ready for more.  So funny!
First bite:
Thinking about it.
Still debating the flavor and texture.
Ok, I'm good with that.  Bring on more, dad.  She's so tiny we have to prop up half the high chair with a towel.
We've recently discovered that Isla LOVES dogs.  Or more specifically she loves Oscar.  And by loves I mean she finds him hilarious.  Or maybe she thinks chasing him is hilarious.  Anyways, att one of our family Sunday dinners, Esther held up Isla so that she could feel Oscar's fur in her toes.  She laughed and Oscar moved away.  So Esther moved Isla up to Oscar and the same thing happened again, only even louder laughter came from Isla.  Oscar kept running away and Esther with Isla followed behind with the loudest laughter I've even heard from her.  So funny!  Good thing Barbara's out of town so she won't see Isla torturing her poor dog.
