Smiles and sort-of-coos

Yeah for Isaac! He's just shy of 2 months and has started really interacting with people when they smile and make faces at him. He gives wonderful smiles and is working on the coo-ing part. Right now they sound more like squeaks and happy screams and grunts. But he'll get it someday and for now we'll take whatever he's giving.

Ethan loves Joyschool!

For the past year or so, Taylor and I have been agonizing over whether or not to put Ethan into some kind of preschool. He loves other kids so much and craves that socialization but we've never found the right fit for us or him (preschools are quite pricey in DC and I don't want him gone every day). So when another mom in our ward suggested we start a preschool with 2 other moms I jumped at the chance- partly because I miss teaching so much and also for Ethan of course. So every Tuesday and Thursday morning Ethan gets to sing songs, do crafts, read books, and play with his 3 little friends. They get along really well and he is loving it! I have loved teaching this past week and I think I'll enjoy the one-on-one time I have with Isaac while the other moms teach for the next 3 weeks. You can click on the Joyschool blog link under friends and family if you want to read more about what he's doing there as well as see more pictures and videos.

Baby Shower

Just had to give a shout out to all the wonderful friends in my ward who put together a baby shower for me a few weeks ago. It is so nice to have so many people around me that love and care for me just as a family would. The food was wonderful and Isaac has been enjoying all the cute outfits (alright actually I enjoy them more than he does). Thank you all again!

Isaac's Blessing

We blessed Isaac this morning at church (no last minute name changes so Taylor doesn't have to sleep on the couch). It was wonderful to have my parents come in town as well as Taylor's parents and brother and sister. Ethan loved the extra attention and Isaac loved being held. It was perfect timing because he has just started smiling in the last few days.

This is my dad Patrick who he was named for (see the ear resemblence?). We hope he turns out just like him!

We also had a great time Friday night at the Wizards game where Ethan refused to say "Go Jazz" and instead kept chanting "Let's go Lizards" with the crowd! Ahh, sometimes I love it that he can't pronounce everything correctly!

Making it work with two!

Boozer and Squeaker

So most of you already know my dilemma with names. I really love calling people by their nicknames and their are about a million girls names I love that readily lend themselves to nicknames. Boys names- not so much. So as it turns out, I've ended up so far with 2 boys and their names are impossible to shorten in any way. The outcome for Ethan of this is that he now responds to "Boozer" much more often than to just "Ethan". Isaac, it seems, stands to inherit the name "Squeaker" unless he quickly changes his habit of squeaking all the time (although I prefer his squeaking to crying)! So now I'm the crazy mom at the playground yelling "Boozer stop that" and some day it will be "Squeaker put that down". Anyways, I wanted to post some of the cute pictures of them together. Ethan really seems to like Isaac and the other morning he walked out and said "Oh hi buddy, how you doin?" (Taylor calls him buddy too). We're having a good time together!
