Picture of the Day

So I was doing dishes last night and cleaning up around the house while Taylor sat on the couch watching TV trying to put Isaac to sleep. This was a fine arrangement in my book until Taylor called to me and asked me to change the channel for him. (the clicker was sitting right next to him) I have to admit I rolled my eyes at this and had some derogatory thoughts about Taylor's helpfulness until I came around the corner and saw WHY he couldn't use the TV remote to change his own channel.

Isaac's Hospital Pictures

Pictures of Baby Isaac

Thanks to the many complaints that there aren't many pictures of Isaac up on the blog yet, I'm finally getting around to doing that. So here they are. Hope you enjoy!

So I thought this one was hilarious because Ethan wanted Isaac to have something to look at so he tipped this wooden Santa statue onto his swing when I wasn't watching.

Isaac has been a wonderful baby so far. He's content to sit in a swing or bouncy seat for a few minutes so I can get some things done or help Ethan. He especially likes the vibrating chair!

Look at how crazy long his little toes are and of course how skinny his legs are. Welcome to my skinny boys!

Ethan was kind enough to bring Isaac a cell phone to play with. Some day Isaac will appreciate it.

Happy to finally be able to stretch! And mom's happy too since he's no longer pushing on my organs!

Christmas in the Hospital

So when I found out I was due on Christmas Day, I said "my only request is that the baby come early or late- I just don't want to be in the hospital on Christmas Eve or Christmas day!" So, of course, Isaac decides he'd like to be born on Christmas Eve! Christmas morning when the nurses came around to check on us, they informed us we could go home that day- but Isaac couldn't because they wanted to monitor him a full 48 hours. (like I was going to leave my 1 day old baby at the hospital just so I could be at home) So we all stayed and Taylor's family was nice enough to bring Christmas to us. They dragged in 4 or 5 suitcases filled with presents and we had a great time together. I just have to point out the cute Santa hat they gave us for Isaac. Normally you get the silly pink and blue ones but in honor of Christmas we got the cute Santa ones. Also notice Ethan's "guitar hero" stance. Thanks to his uncle Arty for picking out a fun loud toy that he loves and sometimes I like to hide away from him.

Isaac is Here!

So after much delay due to lack of sleep and needing to recuperate, I'm finally posting some pictures. Isaac was born on Christmas Eve morning at 7:10am. Technically I went into labor Sunday night around 10:00 but the contractions didn't really bother me until about 1:00. We arrived at Georgetown University Hospital around 2am and they stuck us in a triage room instead of labor and delivery because I was smiling (they later told us they were sure they were going to send us home because no one in actual labor comes in smiling). Much to their surprise I WAS having actually contractions 3 minutes apart and I was dilated to a 6. So we got ourselves a nice labor room. They stuck me 5 times before they could get the IV in (they had to end up calling in the anesthesiologist to do it) and for everyone in our ward, it ended up being Matt Pinegar who was on duty. So he was a welcome sight after all the poking and he did it on the first try. Yeah Matt! He also did my epidural and my water broke a half hour later. At 10 to 7 the nurse decided that she'd help remind me how to push by "practicing" once before her shift was over. Tragically for her, after just 2 practices, they saw the head and she had to rush out to get a doctor. I was left alone with Taylor and with stict instructions to NOT PUSH! The doctor got there a few minutes later and after just 4 small pushes, Isaac was out. Yeah for easy labor! So Issac ended up being a clone of Ethan 7 pounds 7 ounces, and 21 inches long. He even looks exactly the same as Ethan's baby pictures. One amazing difference though is that he knows how to self-sooth. Ethan screamed for 10 hours straight the first day in the hospital. Isaac calmed himself down after just a few minutes. Yeah! Enjoy the pictures! Thanks for all the calls and meals. We're having a great time hanging out as a family and taking lots of naps when we can get them in.
