Undefeated Black Panthers

Old camera photos:  you can barely see my cute Ethan- who stood there literally the entire first half.  Bored.  Nothing to do.  Picking grass part of the time.  Practicing his dives across the goal other times just because there was nothing else to do.  Because literally the ball didn't even come in his half of the field.  His teams pretty good.
Here's Miles with his best soccer friend Andrew.  Andrew is much older than him but so sweet to Miles.  His brother Joseph is on Ethan's team and has been the past 2 years as well.  So they're pretty good friends and Andrew has been Miles' buddy for several years too.
Isla at the game.  Love her!
Is this too many pictures of the kids?  I was bored watching Ethan just picking flowers :)

Okay and finally he's in to play.
This jump in age groups has been a whole eye opening experience.  The league added in throw ins at this age as well as off sides and direct and corner kicks for fouls.  Apparently they can also give yellow and red cards although I haven't seen those yet.  And there's refs that aren't coaches.  For the first time ever I've witnessed the crazy soccer parents you always hear about.  Parents yelling at their kids and yelling at the refs and generally acting like toddlers having tantrums.  So different than Ethan's coaches who don't make a peep on the sideline.  They coach during the week at practices and on the sidelines by talking to the boys and during the games they just let the boys play instead of distracting them by yelling directions from the side.  It got so bad with another team one week that I overheard a boy say "please don't put me back in coach.  My dad keeps yelling at me.  The coach says- no he's just trying to get you to do what you need to do.  And the kid says "well then at least just put me in as defense.  He won't yell at me on defense."  How sad is that?!?  I'm really grateful Ethan is having a positive coaching experience.  He's not the best on the team but they let him play the best he can and keep teaching him ways to improve.
Getting a high five from Grams.  Poor Grams has been coming to half of Ethan's game and then running over to the other half of Isaac's game just so she could support both of them.  Such a good grandma.
One more thing to love about Ethan?  After the game Miles ran up to him and Ethan instantly hugged him.  Someday he'll be embarrassed by little brothers but for now he's pretty sweet.

And when Miles gets bored of all the playgrounds and Andrew wants to watch the game he comes and steals my phone to play games.
Go Black Panthers!
