Then it was back to Sofia for one more night exploring the city.
This apparently is the sight of a story I have heard Taylor tell hundreds of times. Apparently while serving in Sofia, he was assigned to find a "cultural" activity for a large group of missionaries to see. He found out that there was a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the National Theatre so he went ahead and bought the tickets. They all showed up the night of the performance and were informed that it was in a small theatre at the back of the real theatre. And when the show started they found out that it was Romeo and Juliet performed by 2 guys. Taylor laughs now at how uncomfortable it was to watch 2 guys acting in love and "rolling around the stage" at one point. And he apparently got teased a lot after that by the other missionaries for picking such a bizarre activity.
And if this is the last of the Bulgaria pictures, it's a fitting one. This is called "Shopska Salata" and I probably ate at least 2 of these each day we were there. They are DIVINE! Fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, red peppers with Cirene cheese and oil. DIVINE!
