Miles is 5!

Cowabunga!  We're going full shell around here.  Miles and Isaac are both fairly obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so of course that had to be the theme for Miles' 5th birthday party.
I love Pinterest but sometimes it means my kids fall in love with something that I end up having to figure out how to create.  Such was what happened with Miles' cake.  He fell in love with one where the turtles were all popping out the top of the sewer... and the most important part was they all had their weapons.
Do here goes the fondant figures.  Luckily we only needed them on the top half.
Not as grand as the pinterest cake that had 3 layers with the turtles on the top and a sewer lid behind them, but not too shabby either.
It was actually kind of fun to create even if I don't think it's professional.  The 5 year old was happy.
So was the little sister who got to help frost the cupcakes.  I always end up having to make both a fancy cake (for the Sunday family celebration) and cupcakes for the party (since they're easier to pass out in the party chaos).  Isla got a bit dirty "testing" the frosting.

These guys were about the easiest thing ever with a bit of fondant and candy eyeballs.
The birthday boy appropriately dressed in his new Turtle sweatshirt.
And even though Miles has crazy zombie eyes, I had to include this because... well, it's pure Miles.  He LOVES fondant.  LOVES!  LOVES!  LOVES!  He mostly wanted the figures so he could eat them.  And eat them he did!

We started out with coloring and then moved on to Ethan teaching us a few Tae Kwon Do moves.
It was pretty entertaining to see all the little boys (and Esther) working out their inner ninja.

And then we did group puzzles.
And sang to the birthday boy.
And ate pizza of course!  Cause that's a food group for ninja turtles.

And more fondant eating.
And then, since it was really all these little boys wanted, we let them loose to play with our toys.
A pretty happy little boy!
And then of course more celebration on Sunday with family.
