Monday was a nice break for us since nothing was planned for the boys and me. Taylor went off with his dad, brother, and some friends to play a round of golf while the other members of the family went to sightsee. I decided we needed to lay low. The boys enjoyed cartoons.
And then when I thought it looked like their brains had been fried by enough cartoons, we searched out the pool at the hotel. Of course it couldn't be anything average since this is Dubai. No it was like 10 stories up and overlooking the beaches. This is just the kiddy pool you see. Complete with tons of toys for the boys, which was good since they decided the water was too cold.
Miles chilled in his car seat.
While I took in the scenery.
We got lunch and took naps and then got ready for the wedding that night. Sadly, the Woodburys are not the best at communication and we thought the wedding started at 6, pictures at 5. In fairness even the groom thought that so when they showed up from golfing at 4:25, no one was in a rush until the bride called to ask where we all were. So we held the wedding up a half hour (it didn't help we got lost getting there).
But it all turned out beautiful. Taylor was a dashing best man and Ethan was a cute ring bearer- even though he fought back tears the whole way down the aisle. Poor thing really wasn't feeling well and was very unhappy to be woken up from his nap.
Hopefully no one got close ups of his scowl. Taylor literally bribed him with everything under the sun just to get him to walk. A smile was apparently non-negotiable for Ethan. In the end the promise of iPhone games got him to walk.
Luckily the attention was really on the beautiful bride and groom. Love her dress!!!
I got away with taking pictures the whole time since I tried to discreetly sit on the back row. Thankfully Esther's mom brought her maid again to help me. Miles was fussy so it helped that she could walk around with him while I wrestled Isaac who was very intent on chasing birds that were flying around and chirping the whole time. Just had to include the picture of the hot air balloon. There was a hot air balloon that landed in the field next to my house during Taylor's and my reception so it was a good feeling moment when I saw this one and was reminded of other special days.
The program was printed on pages that fit together as a fan. Genius, especially since it was still 95 degrees at 5:30.
Esther and Arty.
Eventually the only way I could get Isaac to stop darting off after birds was to give him the iPod to watch a movie. Oh well, we were on the back row.
And this was the rest of the family who was involved in the wedding and sitting on the front row.
As soon as I stepped away, Isaac was gone. Poor birds.
He did agree to sit down with a glass of fresh orange juice- but only if I let him hold the very breakable glass. They're pretty cute in their matching vests though.
The view behind the wedding with Taylor, Sonia and Miles, and Esther's dad Phillip.
Seriously love Barbara. And my kids do too so they were entertained for a while and stopped chasing the birds.
My cute boys.
After the wedding we headed inside for a reception. Originally they had Taylor and I at the head table in the middle with Ethan and Isaac way across the room at the kids table. After a waiter caught Isaac "eating" the pearls on the table and brought 17 slimy pearls in his hand to show me, we decided maybe they needed a little more supervision. So we traded off and had a good time with her little brothers as well as her parents.
All in all a great day and we were only sad to have to leave early to put our kids to bed and miss the dancing. We hear Arty's break dancing was top notch!
