Falling Water

Most of our activities were outdoor-based for this reunion which worked great for all the husbands and the kids most of the time. Not so much for the pregnant and nursing crowd of which we were 4 strong. So one day we left all the kids with our husbands and took off to visit a house called Falling Water. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and was absolutely amazing. Well worth the trip if you're in DC and just 3 hours away. No kids allowed though. The couple who commissioned it wanted it built with a view of this beautiful water fall but Frank Lloyd Wright had other plans and was very into combining nature with the home so he built the home literally right on top of the waterfall. How cool is that? The lady would apparently walk right down those stairs in the morning and do a little fly fishing.
Here's a better view. You're not allowed to take pictures anywhere inside but there's a big focus on horizontal and vertical lines. Kristina's husband Fred actually came along too and we got to laugh at him a lot because he's 6'4" and most of the ceilings are just that tall, some shorter even. Apparently Frank Lloyd Wright was short and wore platforms built into his shoes to be taller but even still he used to call tall people "weeds" and in this house he obviously wasn't worried about visitor's height.
