Christmas Morning- Early

Since it seems like we're traveling to be with family every year around Christmas, and the boy's presents take up so much space in our luggage being trasported there and back again, we've started the tradition of having our own little "Christmas morning" the last day we're in town. So this year that happened to be Friday the 19th. Ethan isn't old enough to understand dates yet so it's always a good surprise for him. He wakes up like it's any normal day and then gets to open a bunch of presents. I look forward to his excitement sometime in the future.

Isaac does seem excited in this picture but I'm pretty sure that's just because he's been able to see but not get too the presents for weeks. We have our couches placed in an L shape and I put the tree up on an end table in the middle of them. The presents were then all around the tree but he hasn't yet figured out how to get on the couches so he could only stand in the little L bend and scream and reach for the shiny boxes.

He totally didn't get the unwrapping part (Ethan was happy to share his skills of course).

Okay I had to add one picture of Taylor and one of me just for histories sake- we really were there.

Bizarrely, Isaac's favorite presents were fridge magnets that apparently taste good, and a stuffed animal monkey. When Ethan was learning to fall asleep on his own (eons ago it seems) I got him a little monkey identical to this one. It's still the only animal he sleeps with at night. So when Isaac starting sleeping on his own, I tried to give him a stuffed animal dog that we have. And that would be a no go. He would scream until I gave him Ethan's monkey and then he'd hug it and fall over in his crib. He still does this everytime we put him to sleep. It's so cute how he hugs it and coos at it. When my cheap side kicked in and I tried to persuade Ethan to let Isaac have his monkey, Ethan threw a fit. So Isaac got his very own, exactly the same, little brown monkey. And he loves it as you can see.

Thanks Grandma Tina. We love our presents.
