French Lick- West Baden Springs Hotel

Taylor's dad LOVES to travel and sometimes when he visits somewhere he thinks is really neat he comes home and tells us all about it and then decides we all need to go see for ourselves.  Last spring he visited French Lick Indiana and came up with the grand idea of doing a quick weekend trip to see that part of the country.  So with nothing planned for Memorial Day weekend, we were off.  It didn't hurt that Taylor's uncle is a mission president in Louisville, Kentucky and we could stop and visit him on our way from the airport.
This hotel is AMAZING!  They definitely don't make them like they used to with all the amazing architecture and details.  This giant dome is over 4 stories high and all the rooms face into the ornate atrium.
That's Taylor in the red shirt walking across the middle just for a little perspective.
And of course Isla couldn't resist running around the carpeted paths.  And thankfully Isaac was feeling helpful and mostly kept her behavior civilized.
These two are the cutest thing.  Isaac speaks baby talk to her if he's just talking to her and it's adorable to see how kind and gentle and watchful over her he is.
Of course there's only so much a 6 year old can do to keep a 2 year old in check so eventually dad had to step in.  Chess anyone?
The details were just amazing from the top of the dome...
To the hand-laid tile floors.
And the entire room is just for hanging out.  There's lounge chairs and chess boards and even in one corner a woman playing the harp who let Isla strum a few times after she danced and twirled until her song was over.
Oh and marble statues in case your lounge chair needs a little propping up.
A beautifully obscure place to stay if you're randomly traveling through Southern Indiana.
