El Patito Diferente

AHHH!! My videos are not uploading which is completely tragic since the real splendor of Miles' program was his personality during the show.  He was ADORABLE and HILARIOUS and absolutely my favorite kids program of all time.  I keep calling it Miles' show but really Miles and Isaac were in it.  I guess when they were assigning parts, all the older kids understood what El Pato Feo meant and refused to be it.  Miles, being a first year student, didn't understand and was happy to be it.  Until they started teasing him about being ugly and he finally understood.  He came home complaining and we talked about how being different is not the same as being ugly.  So he went back to school and announced to his teachers that he no longer wanted to be El Patito Feo, but instead be called El Patito Diferente.  And they let him.  In fact they changed the whole name of the play.
Isaac was a granjero (farmer) narrator and did an excellent job as well.  He just didn't have a funny part and he's old enough and well behaved enough to act the way he's supposed to on stage.
And Miles was the hilarious ugly duckling.  He seriously cracked everyone up.  Between his actual planned funny acting and then his onstage personality showing, he kept the whole show entertaining.  at one point he removed his shoe so he could take off his sock which was apparently bugging him.  Put his shoe back on but then tried out various ways of entertaining himself onstage with the sock- using it as a puppet on his hand, swinging it around like a lasso, and my favorite, draping it over the girl next to him and smiling at her.  His acting and expressions and voice intonation was spot on and I can't wait for him to do another play.

In the end, Miles' orange and yellow costume changed to the while swan costume.

And because he's such a sweetheart he came into the audience and let Isla try it on.
I love these two cuties and am so glad they got to have a year together at school.
And so glad this little one (notice only one sock on) was brave enough and persistent enough to be his own self instead of following the crowd.
