Around the World with Ethan's Dance Class

Ethan gets to attend dance classes each week at his school.  And once a year they put on a small informal performance for all the parents.  The instructor really tries to use her time to teach them dance but also to teach them other core subject matter.  This year they chose a book called "How I Learned Geography".  Ethan's class read it and then learned all about the world by dancing.  As they switched from continent to continent they would "fly" around the world.  Ethan repeatedly did this jump in the air, land on his knees, and spin around move.  Now I know why I'm forever finding holes in his knees.
Here they built the great wall of China.
And then demonstrated symmetrical shapes since the entire Taj Majal is symmetrical.  I didn't even know that.
It was actually really amazing to see them dance out all the things they'd learned.  It has helped Ethan become fascinated with maps and globes and places around the world.  Plus he's getting some good exercise and a bit of a break from sitting in a chair to learn.  I'm all for that!
Ethan is  such a sweet older brother and ran over to give everyone hugs afterwards- even little Isla.
And as luck would have it, Grandma Tina was in town this year just like she was last year.  So she got to enjoy his informance.
