We suited up and loaded up and drove way up in the Smoky mountains.
We were given a few instructions, and then we were off- literally!
Our guide was hilarious and kept saying "outstanding, very cool" so that is my new favorite phrase.
Some of the lines were really long and went over the road so you got to wave at cars. A fabulous girls adventure.
The boys meanwhile took all 14 kids on a hike and ended up just wading and rock climbing in a stream. Then there were naps and baths and a hot family picture (don't miss humidity one bit in lovely dry Utah) and as if it wasn't hot enough we decided we needed a fire and smores back at the cabins. Unfortunately since these cabins are built literally on the sides of mountains, the only apparently available land left for the fire pit was right on the edge of the hill.
No one fell over though and we all found slightly angled spots to sit.
The kids gave up on smores pretty fast since it was so hot and explored the little treehouse.
Even Isaac couldn't be kept out of it even though he couldn't get himself back down again.
One of the big reasons for going back to Tennesse was that it was kind of in the middle for my siblings and parents who are in Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, and New York, and my uncle, aunt, grandparents, and cousins who are all in Florida. So not only did we have my own family reunion, we had a full Kitchen family reunion with 4 generations. It was really neat to see them all.
