I never intended to start Isaac playing basketball at the age of 4 (this is Ethan's first year too at the age of 7) but when 6 of the neighbor boys who go to sunbeams with him decided to start up a team, I just couldn't exclude him. And really it's just 1 night a week for a half hour. They had 2 short practices and now it's just games- much better since they're really too little to improve much on their skills. Really they just love playing together.
This is how Taylor and Isla entertain each other during the games.
And here's Isaac with his team. They're supposed to be the blue Whales. That's the name the Boys and Girls Club assigned them. But they don't like it and since most of them were on the same soccer team and chose the name Cheetahs for that, they've decided to not be blue whales and instead be the Blue Cheetahs. So we're going with that. Works in the mind of 10 4 year olds apparently. Most of the normal basketball rules are actually just "suggestions" for the 4 year olds. Dribbling is entirely optional and most of the kids just tuck the ball under their arm like it's a football and run straight down the court. Quite funny.
The one rule they do try to enforce through is no jump balls and no stealing the ball. Actually those are allowed in real basketball but I approve of them focusing on the game not turning into a wrestling match.
Does this look like chaos to you?
Miles is happy to be a part of it all and just wishes he could be on a team too.
Woops. Isaac's going the wrong way!!!
A brief attempt by Isaac to actually dribble.
And doing his victory dance when it's his turn to be out. He sure is loving the game!
