Kauri Cliffs

Golf was of course the main reason we stayed at Kauri Cliffs for 3 days but I think everyone enjoyed every minute surrounded by the beautiful countryside and having lots of time to rest and relax and adjust after all the travel.  The last night Taylor and I swapped babysitting and took a cart onto the course just so I could see it all.
Almost every single hole overlooks the ocean.
And all the amazing tiny islands off the shoreline.
And even the interior holes are just beautiful.  The cottages we stayed in are all nestled in those trees.  You can just barely see their gray roofs.
And a view from another of the holds.

The last 3 holes require you to hit uphill every time.  Taylor says it's pretty hard at the end of your long round but it's a great view of the clubhouse.
That's our little cottage on the far right.
And the view as we'd walk to the clubhouse each morning.
And waiting inside for us?  3 cute boys all dressed up and sharing fancy drinks and hors devours.
They're cute all the time but maybe more when they're all clean and shiny.
The morning we left I ran out to get pictures of the things I'd missed while enjoying our time there.  Sunrise.
Our cottage from the front.
My kiddos around the roaring fire.
And outside on the back porch with our view.
Mack and Sam walking up for breakfast.  What an amazing little path to and from our cottages and the clubhouse.  We really felt like we were in the jungle and in luxury at the same time.
And since it was Christmastime everything was decorated festively.  Gingerbread houses.
And Christmas trees.
And one more family picture out on the porch.  I kind of can't believe 10 years ago this picture was just of Taylor and I.
And finally a fun breakfast before we left.
Isla literally ate her weight in blueberries every morning.  She consented to eat almost nothing BUT blueberries.  And her diapers were lovely every day :)
Miles enjoyed the french pastries and fresh fruit.
And one more shot.  This place deserves it's #18 ranking!
