One of the best parts of having a baby is that my mom always comes to help us survive... and to see the new baby of course. Normally she loves to come as soon as the baby's born but she was busy doing a stake Seminary graduation and while we love her help anytime, we thought we'd need her more during the wedding events. So she came when Isla was 5 days old and stayed for a week.
This is the "laundry game". Since I have 3 boys in a row, their clothes are easy to mix up. So grandma Tina would hold up something and Isaac and Miles would race to shout out who it belongs to. They're actually pretty good and it was hilarious to see how excited they got.
Her coming late would have been a problem with Ethan. With him we were totally freaked out to bring him home and he cried all the time. But with Isla the truth is the hardest part is getting her to wake up enough to feed her :) Not exactly a rough transition to 4 kids! And if you ever want her to go back to sleep, just hold her. Seriously! Love this one!
Okay and we've been doing lots of clothes changes here too. Not because she needs them, but just because all these cute little girl clothes are new (to me at least) and they're adorable. We kept laughing about these jammies. Not only does she get little Mary Janes which are adorable, but there's a tag at the top that says "I whaley love you!" Ethan has been telling everyone that this week. He's "whaley" funny!
My mom has been pulling chauffeur duties these last 2 weeks of school too. Isaac had his last performance and she took him early for the practice (and ended up being the only one of us to see his performance- woops!).
She's been a lifesaver for Miles who feels like he needs more love and attention now that the baby is actually here. He's unfortunately a little too smart for his own good sometimes. He asked me to pick him up and I said no I couldn't. His response "But the baby in your belly is gone".
And Grandma Tina has been good at saving Isla from little boys who haven't learned boundaries yet.
And one of the highlights of her visiting is always the shape pancakes. They were such a hit one night that the boys begged to have them again the next morning. She has 3 star wars shapes and 3 farm animal shapes.
So good that we can't even look up to say cheese!
And after all the laundry and dishes and driving and feeding of kids and cleaning up, she finally got to spend time with Isla. She actually got lots of time with her as she took the first night shift from 8 to midnight and would give Isla a bottle and then put her to bed. This helped Taylor get some extra work done while I was able to get 5-6 hours of sleep before being up with her at night. So nice!!!
And Grandma Tina got plenty of time holding her during the day because she's just to tiny and cuddly to put down. We're really enjoying the excuse to be lazy and just hold her.
And Grandma Tina was a lifesaver during the wedding. She stood behind and bush and kept the boys calm before sending them down the aisle as ring bearers.
She watched/fed/held little Isla whenever I needed to chase my boys around or whenever I felt up to being part of the action.
This is my favorite shot!
And she even took the kids away when it was time for them to leave and us to stay. We really could not have managed this wedding weekend without her and we miss her already!!!
