I'm starting to feel like we're a soccer family. Not that I'll complain. Soccer games are 1 hour each Saturday, plus a practice or 2 during the week. So not too hard and actually it's pretty easy to bring siblings to because there's usually a playground nearby for them to run off and play at. I can think of a lot worse sports to fall in love with. And since Ethan has of his own accord fallen in love with soccer, we're going with it. He says that's all his does everyday during his 3 recesses at school- play soccer.
And he's getting pretty good. This kick above actually earned him a goal. (He's the white shirt with his back to you with the fabulous right kick)
As did this one. He's on the ground in the picture but you can see the ball got in- even with 2 other defenders. (He's the white shirt on the ground).
Taylor has coached him now for a year and a half and I'm really glad they've gotten that father/son time together. Taylor's been a little frustrated this season as about half the kids haven't gotten really into the game and the other half are actually not interested at all. Maybe they're ready to move onto another sport though so this is good timing. In June Ethan will start a competition prep team with real coaches, not just dads. And Taylor is planning to switch to coaching Isaac's little 4 year old team. Seems perfect to me.
Here's his whole team.
