The LDS church recently unveiled a new shopping development in downtown Salt Lake. It's been a bit controversial because of how much they spent and also because there were some underhanded dealings where they lured stores away from other malls and centers. Taylor's dad refuses to go there because he's still mad. And maybe that's justified, but Taylor and I have been curious. So Friday night we met up with GW friends and had dinner and then explored together.
Can I just say I'm sold. I mean truthfully it is a little over the top- a glass roof that closes and open?!? Sure it's nice but worth the price tag? But since it's there I'll use it. Especially on snowy days. And they have one of these climbing kids areas surrounded by walls with tables next to it so you can sit and watch your kids and it's so easy. The whole place does feel more like Las Vegas or Dubai I will admit. Streams and rocks running down every walkway. Fountains with different water tricks around every corner. Crazy shops you've never heard of- Porshe clothes?
And even fountains with water displays timed to music- yep, created by the same guy who did the Bellagio fountain. And complete with fire! Inside the fountain! Miles has been telling us several times a day since we saw this that "I yike da fi-ya!" Yep, of course you did. So it was fun. And we'll definitely be going back- but not really to shop since who can afford the over the top retail stores there, but we'll enjoy the ambience and the warmth in winter, and definitely the kids play area. Playdate next winter anyone?
