Even though the weather was only in the high 60's, we couldn't resist spending one afternoon at the beach. Portugal really does have beautiful beaches and it's amazing to see all the limestone cliffs. The waves were really intense so we didn't go near the water, but the sand was great. Here's a view as we were walking down to it.
Pretty empty.
Taylor's brother Arty is amazing. It was a Sunday afternoon and he's working on finishing up the Book of Mormon so he brought it to read on the beach. Tragically my priorities were beach toys and towels. I do aspire to be more like him though
Taylor's mom was so sweet. She collected lots of little ladles and tupperware from the house we were staying at so we'd have toys to build a sand castle with.
You can see how interested Ethan was in this. He was more worried about his feet being in the cold sand.
Isaac wasn't into building either but he sure loved eating the sand. You don't want to hear about his diapers afterwards.
Taylor had the great idea to do our family's footprints in the sand so here he is trying to get Ethan to do a perfect impression.
And here's the finished product- pretty neat actually! Isaac, Ethan, Sarah, and Taylor
And because we'd been watching so many bowl games, the boys decided to have a football game in the sand.
Ethan was in heaven! Can you blame him? He's suddenly one of the big boys.
We had such a great time we stayed almost until we couldn't see any more. It was a perfect day on a perfect beach.
