So part of me wanted to do a puppy party because of all the cute ideas I found but really it wasn't a theme I just pulled out of nowhere. Miles LOVES puppies! Real ones and fake ones. We used to laugh at Isaac because his crib was full of binkies. Miles never cared for binkies, but look in his crib and you'll find at least 5 dogs, sometimes more. We have collected a rather sizeable collection of stuffed animals over the years and Miles has somehow without us noticing found every dog in the pile and brought it up to sleep in his crib. So a puppy party was just fine with him (until 2 days beforehand when he and Isaac found a new favorite show on Netflix and decided they wanted a Beyblade party- sorry boys- they party's already done!)
First we colored while everyone arrived.Miles invited 3 Utah cousins, 3 nursery friends, 4 Adventure school friends, and of course Ethan and Isaac got to come. A big group but amazingly not too much chaos.
After coloring we read Dr. Seuss's "Go, Dog, Go" which was perfect because in the book all the dogs are going to a dog party.
Then we played with playdough while everyone took turns going to the Puppy Shop.
At the shop each kid got to pick a dog out to adopt...
And then they took them over to Dr. Esther our resident veterinarian to do a checkup.
This was seriously the hit of the party. So hilarious how serious the kids were about it. They kept going back and back to Esther making up new injuries their dogs had and needing her help to fix them.
Taylor was the designated photographer and got some great shots.
"What's that you say dad? Look at you? I'm totally not going to just because I can"
"Seriously- back off, I'm making snakes here out of my playdough!!!"
"Just kidding! I'm so funny" I love that he's stuck his puppy in his shirt to carry around with him.
While they were at the pet shop and playing playdough I also outfitted them all with dog hats.
Here's Dr. Esther with some of the new owners. Esther seriously did such a cute job as the vet. She even borrowed a real scientist lab coat from Taylor's mom's school so she could really look the part- and she wore glasses just to complete the look. We're so glad they're back!!!
Ethan joined in on the fun.
As did Isaac.
Taylor messed around with the camera settings.
Then once everyone had their very own dog, we all enjoyed cake and ice cream and snacks.
Blowing out the "3".
At some point Miles' hat must have fallen off and he put it back on himself. I actually love that the ears now hand more out. Such a cutie pie!
Isla slept through most of the party and then was content being passed around the Aunts. Grams came at the end and let Isla try her hand at being a vet. You think she has a career in her future?
She'll need to sanitize her tools better if she does!
At the end, each of the kids took home a "doggy bag" with all the essentials for being a new puppy owner.
A little felt doggy bed, a tennis ball for exercise of course (can you tell I loved doing favors for girls? they even have pink tennis balls- how cute is that?!?) , Dog Vitamins (gummy bears), Dog Bones (scooby graham cracker snacks), and of course puppy chow (cocoa puffs).
This party was so fun to prepare for and even funner to put on. The kids had a blast and so did I. Can't wait for Isaac's birthday in December. Guess I'll have to start scouring pinterest for more cute birthday ideas!
